Nov 8, 2020

A non governmental organization, Better Living Foundation and Capacity Development, says there is a need for the implementation of laws relating to the protection of the girl child in Ondo State.

The Executive Director of Better Living Foundation and Capacity Development, Mrs Margaret Adedeji made the disclosure in Akure at an event to mark the International day of the Girl Child.

Mrs Adedeji also called for the enactment of other stricter laws in the light of contemporary development.

“The way forward is to move from the talk and into action, we want to see all of our demands against violence against women come to bear in our policies and constitution”

“I want to see a hotline where every girl child who senses danger around her can quickly call, I also want to see security agencies come in handy to attend any situation of danger around her”

Also speaking, the chairman board of directors, Better Living Foundation and Capacity Development, Pastor John Adedeji said everyone has an important role to play in helping female children achieve the basic necessities of survival and development.

“It is everyone’s duty, the parents, the government, the teachers even the Church and the mosques, we all need to network together to empower these children, you may train your children at home, what about in the school?, we should make sure we empower them spiritually, physically and educationally”

The Executive Director Kids And Teens Resource Center, Folasade Bamigboye said the present narrative accorded to the girl child must be changed.

Officials of the NGO trained the girl children present at the event on salient security tips like what to do when in danger.
