Ondo State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of 102 interim management committee Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of Local Governments and new Local Council Areas in Ondo State.
This is sequel to the submission and consideration of report by the house selection committee chaired by the Speaker,Olamide Oladij at a plenary presided over by him.
The house had earlier conducted screening exercise for the nominees at the assembly complex.
The Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin read the letter sent to the House by the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the consideration of the nominees.
While submitting the report, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Prince Abayomi Akinruntan called for confirmation of the appointment of the nominees whom he affirmed have been properly screened.
Earlier, while presenting the recommendations of the Selection Committee , Akinruntan noted that all the nominees were found eligible and suitable for the offices upon their screening as they possessed required academic qualifications to function effectively as well as physical, mentally and emotionally stable.
He added that they possessed needed exposures fit for the jobs.
The Majority leader of the house, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi moved a motion for the adoption of the report and confirmation of their appointment, which was seconded by a lawmaker representing Akure South constituency 2, Stephen Abitogun.
Thereafter, the Speaker read out the names of the interim management committee and declared that the reason for their appointment is to ensure no vacuum is created in the administration of Local Council after the desolution of the former executives.
Oladiji congratulated the new management and charged them to discharge their duties effectively for the development of the grassroots.
Speaking on behalf of other Chairmen/ Vice Chairmen ,Mr Jimoh Adebayo from Ondo North/East LCDA,Epe after appearing before the house for confirmation pledged their commitment to the growth of the State.
He thanked the State Governor, the Debuty Governor, other cabinet members and the house of Assembly for the trust and confidence they have in them.
