Ondo APC Primary: Ganduje Invites 16 APC Guber Aspirants To Abuja

Apr 23, 2024

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has slated a meeting with the 16 aspirants seeking the ticket of the party for Thursday at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.

This followed the conclusion of the  governorship primary election of the party in Ondo state.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa won the shadow poll as declared by the chairman of the Election Committee and Kogi state Governor, Usman Ododo.

Aiyedatiwa secured 48,567 votes, defeating the other 15 aspirants.

However, a number of aspirants have challenged the results, claiming that there was no election in any of the 203 wards.

They alleged that Ododo’s committee members simply fabricated the figures from their hotel rooms.

Already, Three of the aggrieved aspirants, Wale Akinterinwa, Hon Jimi Odimayo, and Hon Gbenga Edema, have filed a petition with the Party Appeal committee, chaired by the former Governor of Bauchi State, Abubakar Muhammed.

They are requesting that the party cancel the Saturday poll and hold a new election.

According to an Abuja-based party source, the purpose of Thursday’s meeting with Ganduje is to persuade the aggrieved aspirants to accept the results of Saturday’s election and avoid legal actions.

The SMS message sent to the aspirants reads: “The National chairman of the All progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, send you greetings and well wishes especially at this trying period.

“The chairman is also kindly inviting all the 16 aspirants who participated at the just concluded Ondo state gubernatorial primaries for an important meeting as follows;

Venue: APC National secretariat conference hall

Date; Thursday, 25th April 2024

Time: 2 Pm prompt.
