OLOWO OF OWO ASSURES FUTA OF SUPPORT

The Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye has assured the management of the Federal University of The Technology, Akure that he and the entire people of Owo kingdom will continue to support the visions and goals of the university to ensure that it becomes a world class institution.

He said that the relationship between FUTA and the Owo kingdom will continue to be strengthened for the benefits of all.

Oba Gbadegesin gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape while attending the 131st inaugural lecture of the university delivered by Professor Isaac Aje, an indigene of Owo town.


Olowo said that the university has attained a great height and excelled despite the challenges the nation is faced with.

He commended the university for its vision in creating courses in entrepreneurship that will empower the students and make them self-employed after school, and agriculture-based courses that will reduce inadequacies in food production.


He congratulated the Pro-Chancellor, Ambassador Dr. Godknows Igali and other member of Council on their inauguration as the new Governing council of FUTA.

He said that he is sure that the Federal Government made a right choice selecting them as members of the governing council of the institution.


He commended the inaugural Lecturer and other staff of FUTA who are indigenes of Owo kingdom for excelling in their areas of core competence and urged them to keep up the good work and not relent in making giant strides.


Speaking earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape said that the Owo kingdom is blessed with great and highly cerebral people who have impacted and keep impacting FUTA.

He also emphasized on how a lot of industrious Owo people have impacted the university community positively.

Fuwape highlighted the contributions of the Owo kingdom to the growth of the university, particularly joining others from Ondo State in the push for the medical school and offering to make the Federal Medical Centre, Owo (FMC) available for the cause.


The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council , Dr. Igali in his address appreciated the support the school has been receiving from Owo.

He urged the monarch not to relent on the support for FUTA but keep supporting the university so that together they would make the school a global university.


He stated the Council’s intention of making the FUTA’s Teaching hospital one of the best in Nigeria .
