JUST IN: Ondo APC Primaries Rerun: Adefarati emerges Winner

A chieftain of the all progressives Congress APC Mr Gboyega Adefarati has emerged as the party’s candidate for Akoko Southwest Akoko South east federal constituency in next year’s election

Mr Adefarati polled 71 delegate votes to defeat Dr Olusegun Ategbole who scored 55 during a fresh primary election held at St Patrick’s college Iwaro Oka.

Chairman of the electoral committe and former deputy governor of Anambra state declared the winner of the election monitored by the independent national electoral commission

The presence of security operatives drafted from the Nigeria Police force, Civil defence DSS,and Nigerian Army was evident in and around the schools perimeter.

The officials of the independent national electoral commission (INEC) also registered their presence at the venue just as the delegates and other party loyalist lurk around the location

The arrival of the 5 man electoral committe from the national headquarters of APC led by Dr Nkem Okeke signalled the commencement of the process.

First it was the inspection of the designated hall for the excersise by the electoral team, INEC, and the two aspirants for the poll, Mr Gboyega Adefarati and Dr Olusegun Ategbole.

Thereafter, the committe began the screening of the one hundred and thirty delegates slated to participate in the excersise

Voting process commence subsequently with as 5 delegates from each of the 11 wards in Akoko Southeast took turns to cast the ballot followed by same number of delegates from the 15 wards in Akoko Southwest.

The end of the voting excersise was followed by sorting and afterwards counting of the ballot.

Announcing the results, the chairman electoral committe said a total of 126 delegates participated, with Mr Adefarati scoring 71 of the votes while Dr Ategbole polled 55

Dr Ategbole in his reaction to the outcome, said the delegate list was manipulated and he will consult with his people before Futher taking any decesion

5 aspirants had contested the initial primary election in the federal constituency held in may 27 this year before a federal high court sitting in Akure rulled that this just concluded election be conducted..
