FORMER National President of the Nigerian Wushu-Kungfu Federation and a chieftain of the APC, Engr. Tunji Light Ariyomo, FNSE, has appealed to the people of Akure to vote for the APC in the coming Akure North and South Federal Constituency election.
In a release sent by email, the Abuja based infrastructure engineer enjoined constituents to vote for the candidate of the APC in the Saturday bye-election.
In his words “APC is my party. Even when I cannot be on ground to play decisive roles, my plea is that our people should vote for the APC”.
It is completely true that Akure people deserve more from the federal government. We however remain grateful for the approval the APC led federal government has given for the commencement of a teaching hospital in Akure. This is going to be the biggest federal presence in Akure since the 4th Republic started in 1999. We also appreciate the various road projects that the APC led state government under Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN has completed in all Akure speaking towns and communities.”
“While I have privately expressed my personal opinion and individual preference that the wife or son of the late Otunba Adedayo Omolafe popularly known as Expensive should have been automatically allowed to complete his tenure as has been witnessed in advanced democracies such as the US, it is apparent that his party the PDP does not share or defer to that superior moral obligation. The seat is therefore fully open to entirely new individuals. In view of this, I strongly appeal to the people of Akure to vote for the candidate of the APC in this bye-election.”
“We need more people in APC with the right platform to champion the cause of the masses. We need people who will champion Akure lands’ inclusion in the transit routes of the planned East – West railway line which should ordinarily cut through Ifon-Owo-Ogbese-Akure-Owena-Ondo-Ore etc. We need champions who will go to Abuja and push agenda for all Akure speaking lands to benefit tremendously from programmes of the national government. An APC member of representatives may be better able to form and forge the right alliances to actualise these important agendas just as we have seen APC members representing Akoko and Idanre actively do,” he concluded.
Engr. Ariyomo served as the Special Adviser on Energy to Governor Akeredolu during his first term and was the pioneer Chairman and Special Adviser in charge of the state’s agency on Information Technology under the late Governor Olusegun Agagu.
