Akoko Bye-Election: INEC Distributes Sensitive Materials

Ahead of February 3rd Akoko Northwest Akoko Northeast Federal Constituency by election in Ondo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC alongside stakeholders have inspected the sensitive materials at the INEC Head office, in Akure.

INEC National Commissioner, supervising Ondo, Ogun and Osun Prof. Kunle Ajayi in his address maintained that the commission will continue to carry all the stakeholders along during to ensure smooth and free election exercise.

Just three days to the bye-election in Akoko North East / Akoko North West federal constituency, Independent National Electoral Commission, invited all the stakeholders including political parties for the inspection of sensitive materials for the exercise.

As announced by the Administrative secretary, INEC in the state, Biodun Amosun, said 74,564 voters are eligible to vote at 170 polling units in Akoko Northwest while 71,191 are expected to perform their civic right at the 159 polling units in Akoko Northeast Local government areas of the state.

Inec National Commissioner, supervising Ondo, Ogun and Osun, Prof. Kunle Ajayi while addressing the gathering assured the stakeholders that the commission is transparent in conducting the exercise expecting more cooperation from all the political parties.

State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Babalola confirmed that INEC personnel have received adequate training and properly equipped for the task saying riot act has been read to all staff participating at the election on the punishment await violators.

Reacting, representative of People’s Democratic Party, Kennedy Peretei commended the exercise saying, the numbers were tallying with the announced numbers and called for more transparency as the preparations towards the election continues

By Thursday, the sensitive materials are expected to get to the two local governments where the election will take place on Saturday.
