The Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olufemi Agagu FNIVS, has urged principals and head teachers of public schools across the state to adhere strictly to the admission procedure approved by the state government.
The Commissioner, while monitoring school resumption for the first term 2023/2024 academic session, said government would continue to work harder to provide qualitative and affordable education to the people of the state.
Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Folasade Adegoke, and other officials of the ministry, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the turnout of both students and teachers on the first day of resumption.
Agagu, who said government was conscious of the prevailing economic situation in the country occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy, urged school heads not to put additional burden on parents by imposing on the students levies that are not approved by government.
He urged school authorities across the state to be security conscious always by monitoring strange movements within and around their school premises, while also striving to secure their schools’ properties.
While encouraging parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their children and wards, especially the company they keep, the Commissioner also warned against truancy, absenteeism, bulling and other unwholesome practices by students.
He assured that the State Government would continue to invest in the education sector to ensure that every child of school age in the state has unrestricted access to quality and affordable education where they live, work or play.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olufemi Agagu, has cleared the air that the state government has not increased the school fees or levies at the state owned Unity Secondary Schools.
He said the government of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, would not put additional burden on parents and guardians by arbitrially increasing school fees, considering the present economic situation in the country.
The Commissioner therefore emphasize that school fees in all its Unity Secondary Schools across the state has not increased, and urged interested pupils to take advantage of the on-going admission window to enroll in any of the schools.
