The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for what it described as his uncommon commitment to the welfare of senior citizens and civil servants in the state.

In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, the party hailed the governor for flagging off the payment of ₦1.4 billion as gratuity and other retirement benefits to retirees in Akure. The gesture, the APC noted, followed the recent payment of leave bonuses to serving civil servants.

“The commitment of the State Government, under Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to the welfare of civil servants and retirees deserves commendation. It is glaringly an uncommon focus on the well-being of senior citizens,” the statement read in part.

The APC added that the governor’s consistent attention to workers’ welfare would have far-reaching benefits for the state, describing the civil service as the “engine room of government.”

“One way to encourage those in service to concentrate on their duties is the assurance of retirement benefits. This will boost their confidence in the system, reduce health challenges, enhance quality living after decades of service, and curb tendencies toward corrupt practices,” the statement further noted.

The party urged retirees to reciprocate the gesture by supporting government efforts at the grassroots and offering professional advice and suggestions that would aid the development of the state.
