The wife of Ondo state Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has reiterated the commitment of the present administration to continue to empower market women in the state in the area of disbursing soft loans to them.
This is part of steps to boost their businesses and other benefits directly from the government.
The First Lady, while interacting with market women (iyaolojas and iyaalajes) in Okitipupa, Irele, Ilaje and Ese Odo local government areas, enjoined them to ensure they register for the digital market women initiative in order not to be left out.
Mrs Akeredolu, who was accompanied by the wife of the Deputy Governor Designate, Mrs. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, APC National Women Leader, Mrs Stella Oketete, SUBEB Chairperson, Oladunni Odu and others, emphasised that the initiative was not a political shenanigan, promising the women more dividends of democracy as soon as Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is reelected.
In their respective speeches, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Mobilisation South, Mrs Morenike Alaka and the BEMORE Patron, Mrs Funke Akpan highlighted that the Akeredolu-led administration had, among many projects in the coastal area, empowered countless number of women and girls in skills that will enhance their self-sufficiency.
With more than 10 wives of traditional rulers in the LGAs in attendance, the market women, led by Iyalaje of Ikaleland, Chief Mrs Calister Arikawe, commended Mrs Akeredolu for the initiative, promising total support for the reelection bid of Governor Akeredolu.
