Over 200 residents screened as Osolo commends organizers, urges health consciousness.
As part of activities marking this year’s Owayoko Festival, World Care International Ministry hosted a free medical outreach on Saturday at the palace of the Osolo of Isolo, His Royal Majesty Oba Edward Kolawole Adejoyegbe Adewole.
The programme drew over 200 residents from across the community, who underwent vital screenings for weight, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels, followed by medical consultations with qualified doctors.
In a rare show of commitment to community wellness, Oba Edward Kolawole Adejoyegbe Adewole personally led residents to the screening venue and later expressed heartfelt gratitude to the founder of WorldCare International.
The monarch described the outreach as a life-saving intervention that reflects genuine concern for the well-being of the people.
He noted that good health remains the foundation for socio-economic progress and commended the organizers for aligning culture with wellness.
The Osolo also urged residents to make regular medical check-ups a habit beyond festival periods, stressing that “prevention is always better than cure.”
He advised them to reduce excessive intake of salt, sugar, and alcohol, and to embrace exercise and healthy eating habits as part of their daily lifestyle.
The event also had the active participation of High Chief Ibukun Aladetoyinbo, the Elemo of Isolo, who praised the initiative as timely and impactful, pledging continued support for similar programmes that uplift the health of the community.
One of the attending doctors, Dr. Abiodun Moses Ajayi, provided practical tips for managing common health risks:
“People with high blood pressure should reduce salt and seasoning intake and ensure regular check-ups. For those with high blood sugar, cut down on sodas and energy drinks, adopt healthier lifestyles, and avoid alcohol,” he advised.
Residents expressed appreciation for the outreach, describing it as a timely gesture during the festive season when health is often overlooked.
In his message, President of World Care International, Dr. Olajide Animasaun, reaffirmed the organization’s mission to make healthcare accessible to all:
“Today is about more than medical tests – it is about promoting a culture of wellness in our communities. Over 200 residents have come forward, showing there is a strong desire for better health. Our message is clear: health is wealth. Reduce salt, avoid excess sugar and alcohol, embrace exercise, and go for regular check-ups,” he said.
Dr. Animasaun pledged continued partnership with communities, stressing that the outreach was just the beginning of many more interventions:
“We will keep standing with communities like Isolo because basic healthcare should never be a privilege, it is a right,” he concluded.
The health programme was one of the major highlights of the Owayoko Festival, blending tradition with health awareness and reinforcing the need for holistic community development.
