The Nigeria Alumni Network of the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, celebrated the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, over the weekend, conferring on him an award for political and business leadership.
The honour, presented at the annual gathering of the University of Liverpool Nigeria Alumni Network (Lagos/Southwest Zone) in Lagos on Saturday, recognized Governor Aiyedatiwa’s outstanding contributions to nation-building, excellence in public service, and social entrepreneurship.
Aiyedatiwa, himself an alumnus of the prestigious institution, was commended for his dedication to public service and for being an exemplary ambassador of the University of Liverpool.
In his acceptance speech, the Governor expressed gratitude to the leadership of the alumni body for the recognition. He described the award as both an honour and a challenge to intensify his efforts in governance and societal development.
“I want to thank the leadership of the University of Liverpool Nigeria Alumni Network (Lagos/Southwest Zone) for this honour,” Aiyedatiwa said. “I am delighted to be here, not just for the award, but to reconnect with everyone. We will continue to do our best for humanity, for the development of society, and the empowerment of our people. I appreciate you for recognising our modest efforts.”
Earlier, Dr. Joy Dorcan, the Coordinator of the Lagos/Southwest Zone, welcomed members and guests, describing the event as a platform for networking and strengthening bonds among alumni.
Anita Irving, who represented the University of Liverpool, expressed appreciation to the alumni community for upholding the institution’s values and making significant impacts in their various professions globally.
Delivering the keynote address on “The Power of Relationships,” renowned economist Dr. Biodun Adedipe highlighted the limitless potential of alumni networks. He emphasized that their strength lies in the value they offer to members and their collective impact on society.
The event brought together distinguished alumni and guests who shared insights and celebrated the accomplishments of members of the University of Liverpool community in Nigeria.
