The Yoruba adage “Ki a bi ni, ko to ka tun’ra eni bi” adapted by the Ondo-born King of Juju music and Afro beat maestro, King Sunny Ade has snowballed to a compliment to accord honour and respect to any person who distinguishes himself either in a position or authority or in a family setting.
It is all about displaying maturity, consistency, discipline, humility, diligence and respect for fellow humans. In all dealings one is involved in.
The Yoruba adage “Ki a bi ni, ko to ka tun’ra eni bi” which simply means that background of any human should be built upon for public acceptability to be sustained.
For this pride of Akure Kingdom, Ondo State, Nigeria and the medical profession globally, he is an example of an ‘Omoluabi’ who built on the Socio-economic and political recognition of his family in all his endeavours.
For Taiwo Olumide Fasoranti who has flown the flag of Nigeria as a family physician, medical practitioner and medical educator with over 30 years experience, his accomplishments in life has never gotten into his head.
He comes to the level of everyone who comes across him either officially or at a level of personal interaction and this has continued to attract old friends, associates and family members to him.
Having worked as a medical practitioner for about 22 years in the United States of America and presiding over a non-governmetal organisation out to provide medical services for the vulnerable, Dr. Taiwo Olumide Fasoranti is back in Nigeria and precisely his home state, Ondo serving as the Secretary to the State Government.
Shortly after his return to Nigeria few years ago, he began to visit the State Specialist Hospital in Akure where he provided medical consultations for patients at no cost to the state government.
All these must have been part of what endeared the hardworking and people-friendly Governor of the Sunshine State, Hon(Dr) Lucky Aiyedatiwa to him and appointed him as the Chairman of Hospitals Management Board.
Few months after, he had to fill a gap and was elevated to the position of the Secretary to the State Government where he has continued to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Testimonies from his immediate and remote staff have justified the Yoruba adage, “Ki a bi ni, ko to ka tun’ra eni bi” as a compliment on the celebrant of today.
He doesn’t only admonishes his staff, the birthday ‘boy’ feeds them with words of the Lord on a daily basis towards being a guide as they all forge ahead in life.
