The Director, Media and Corporate Communications of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) Dr Felix Ale has described the Honourable Minister of Science Technology and Innovation, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora as a very distinguished Nigerian and good example of Nigeria’s political elite.
Dr Ale made the remarks in Lagos while speaking on behalf of the Director General.of NASRDA, Dr Halilu Shaba at a Special Service of Praise and Thanksgiving organized to mark the 70th birthday anniversary of Senator Mamora at Christ Baptist Church, Gbagada Industrial Estate, Lagos.
Dr Ale described the Honourable Minister as a man of impeccable character who has made tremendous impact in his various past assignments, particularly as Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Distinguished Senator, Federal republic of Nigeria, Managing Director National Inland Waterways, Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Health and in his current capacity as Honourable Minister of Science Technology and Innovation.
The NASRDA Spokesperson told the congregation that the Space Agency under the leadership of Dr Halilu Shaba is very proud of the achievements of Senator Mamora since his assumption of office as Minister of Science Technology and Innovation.
He said, what the celebrant has done within his short period of assumption of office will remain a reference point in the developmental history of the Ministry.
Dr Ale also acknowledged the recent media reports on the concern of former President Olusegun Obasanjo on what he described as lack of commitment on the part of subsequent leadership to the Nigeria Space programme which according to Obasanjo was responsible for the inability of the Space Agency to have successfully kept to some of its noble goals in line with the Space policy and programme.
The NASRDA Spokesperson appreciated the glorious efforts and concern of the former President and assured him that with the commitment of the current Leadership of the Space Agency under Dr Halilu Shaba and the support of Senator Mamora, the space Agency is not only back on track but irrevocably committed to the actualization of the Nigeria Space agenda.
There were other commendations and eulogies on Senator Mamora by clergymen and many distinguished Nigerians at the occasion including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Honourable Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire and Former Minister of transport Rotimi Amaechi.
Special goodwill messages by President Mohammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo were also delivered virtually at the church service.
The NASRDA Spokesperson, Dr Felix Ale also seized the opportunity to present a copy of the new edition of NIGERIA SPACE DIGEST to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo shortly after the church service in honour of Senator Mamora.
The second part of the birthday celebrations was a book launch and special reception in honour of the celebrant where the Director, Strategic Space Applications, Dr Matthew Adepoju, Director Centre for Space Transport and Propulsion, Epe, Dr Olusegun Sholuyi and Acting Director of Administration, Hajiya Bilikisu Ahmed were all in attendance to join other eminent Nigerians in sharing the joy of the moment with the Honourable Minister.
