…Argues that agitation to return ownership to government remains insincere and self-serving
The Ekiti Anglican Diocese has assured all stakeholders that the famous Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti is on the path of greatness as all hands are on deck to run the school in line with the dream of the founding fathers.
This is in response to a news report that the Alumni Association of the school is gearing up towards the return of their Alma Mater to the government in the interest of all stakeholders.
In a press release sighted by Naijaparrots and signed by the diocesan registrar Barrister Temitope Omotayo, the diocese argued that the school had been managed exclusively by the Anglican Church since creation in 1933 until it was taken over by the State Government in 1980.
The statement emphasises that the Anglican Communion had to take over the running of the school about four years ago following the policy of the then government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi, boasting that the welfare of the students and teachers have also been made a priority.
The statement reads, “the attention of the Ekiti Anglican Diocese has been drawn to an online news that the Alumni Association of Christ’s School Ado Ekiti is agitating for the return of the school to the State Government”.
“It is public knowledge that Christ’s School was founded in 1933 and managed exclusively by the Anglican Church until it was taken over by the State Government in 1980”.
“The Government was in charge of the school, and many others for another 40 years after which, due to the agitation of stakeholders and the policy of the government, the school was returned to the Anglican Diocese as others were returned”.
“In the four years of the return of the school to the Diocese, the population of the student has grown to over 300 and the Diocese has invested a lot in upgrading the infrastructures in the school as well as the promotion of the welfare of the staff and students of the school”.
“It is very unfortunate that some persons who have been denied the ungodly opportunity of using the good name of the school to enrich their own pockets have decided to embark on a war path with the Diocese demanding control of the school and seeking to dictate every step to betaken by the now “new” school”.
“Before Ekiti State Government relinquished ownership of Christ School to Ekiti Anglican Diocese, its original owner, some shadowy members of the Alumni Association were in the habit of sneaking into the school to take group photographs of the students and staff surreptitiously using same to denote the school as NGO to generate funding from unsuspecting international organizations and bodies for their personal benefits”.
“It was the stoppage of that ungodly practice by Ekiti Anglican Diocese that is the root cause of that click’s agitation for Government to take back the School while masquerading under untenable and self-serving reasons”.
“While a lot of the old students of the school have been quietly giving huge helping hands in taking the school back to its old glory, these ones have continued to make a drama out of every tiny bit of contributions they make and demanding that they be allowed to take control of the school, falling which they will rather have the school returned to the government than watch grow back at God’s own pace”.
