The Rotary Club of Akure Prestige has commissioned a newly renovated library at African Church Comprehensive High School, Alagbaka, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote education and literacy in the community.
The project, which was formally handed over during a brief ceremony at the school premises, is aimed at providing students with improved access to learning resources and fostering a better academic environment.
Speaking during the event, the outgoing President of the club, Victor Adegoke, said the intervention was motivated by the club’s commitment to sustainable community development through education.
He noted that the dilapidated state of the school’s former library had long posed a challenge to effective learning.
President-Elect, Dauda Ajibade, also reiterated the club’s vision, adding that the initiative was in line with Rotary’s global objective of supporting education and creating lasting impact.
The school’s current Principal, Mr. Abiola Amimu, and former Principal, Mrs. Olajumoke Ekpo-Jide, both lauded the Rotary Club for the gesture.
They described the new facility as a major boost to the school’s academic capacity, expressing optimism that it would significantly improve students’ performance.
Project Director, Olusola Obasan, praised the project team for delivering the renovation on time and according to plan.
He emphasized the importance of timely execution in ensuring the facility was ready for the new academic term.
In appreciation, students of the school entertained guests with a vibrant cultural dance performance, showcasing their joy and gratitude for the new learning space.
The Rotary Club of Akure Prestige reaffirmed its commitment to supporting education and literacy in underserved communities, pledging to continue similar interventions across the state.
