OPINION: Between a Deafening Noise and A Golden Silence By Victor Omodara

Oct 28, 2025

In politics, as in life, noise is often mistaken for power. The loudest voices dominate the airwaves, the social media space, and the corridors of political conversation. Yet, history reminds us that the roar of the crowd rarely shapes the true course of influence. Beneath every enduring success lies a golden silence – calm, steady, and deliberate.

Political seasons, by nature, attract drama. They come with fiery speeches, social media theatrics, and endless talk shows designed more to impress the moment than to shape the future. The result? Plenty of motion, little direction. Noise excites the crowd but exhausts the thinker.

In contrast, the quiet operator works away from the spotlight – focused on strategy, not showmanship. Those who understand the power of silence know that real influence grows in stillness. Silence is not a sign of weakness; it is often the mark of wisdom.

The silent strategist listens while others talk endlessly. He studies while others boast. He moves while others rest on empty rhetoric. And when the noise eventually dies down, it is often this quiet worker who stands tall – not because he was loudest, but because he was most prepared. Politics rewards consistency more than commotion, and patience more than pride.

Every election cycle produces its fair share of noise-makers – those who mistake visibility for viability. They believe the more they talk, the more they achieve. But leadership and governance demand more than volume; they require vision. The farmer who plants in silence understands this truth: growth makes no sound, but harvest speaks loudly.

Our society must, therefore, begin to value performance over publicity. The obsession with constant talking, endless explanations, and playing to the gallery has weakened political dialogue and turned leadership into spectacle. Those who truly seek to build legacies must rediscover the strength of restraint – the discipline to speak less and do more.

For every roaring voice that fades into echoes, there is always a golden silence that blossoms into victory. So, when next you see someone moving quietly, do not mistake calmness for inactivity. The loud may trend, but the wise endure.

After all, even gold is refined in the furnace – quietly, without noise.
