As Ondo State clocks 50 years of creation on February 3rd ,2026, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Femi Meshe ,has congratulated the government and people of the Sunshine State, describing the milestone as a moment of reflection, gratitude and renewed commitment to the future.
In a statement made available to journalists to mark the Golden Jubilee, Meshe paid glowing tribute to the resilience of the people of Ondo State and commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for steering the state with stability and focus at a historic point in its journey.
According to him, the 50th anniversary offers an opportunity to look back at how far the state has come, from its formative years through periods of growth, challenges and transformation, while also setting a clear vision for the decades ahead.
“Ondo State at 50 is not just a celebration of age, but a celebration of identity, resilience and promise. It is a moment to honour our founding fathers, appreciate past leaders and reaffirm our collective responsibility to build a stronger, more prosperous state,” Meshe said.
He noted that under Governor Aiyedatiwa, Ondo State has continued on a path of continuity, peace and purposeful governance, stressing that political stability remains a critical foundation for development.
Meshe observed that the current administration has sustained governance across key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and security, while prioritising policies aimed at improving the welfare of citizens and strengthening the economy.
“The journey so far under Governor Aiyedatiwa reflects maturity in leadership and a deep understanding of the state’s history and aspirations. This is particularly important as Ondo State marks 50 years and looks to the future with confidence,” he said.
Projecting into the next phase of the state’s existence, the APC chieftain expressed optimism that Ondo State is well-positioned to unlock greater opportunities in agriculture, industrial development, the blue economy and human capital development.
He stressed that the next decades must focus on empowering youths, attracting investment and deepening good governance to ensure that the promise of the Sunshine State translates into tangible benefits for all.
“The Golden Jubilee should mark the beginning of a new era, one defined by innovation, inclusiveness and accelerated development. With Governor Aiyedatiwa at the helm, supported by the people and the progressive ideals of the APC, the future of Ondo State is bright,” Meshe stated.
He called on residents of the state to use the 50th anniversary as a rallying point for unity, patriotism and renewed faith in the state’s collective destiny.
Meshe reaffirmed the commitment of the APC to partnering with the Aiyedatiwa administration to deliver good governance and ensure that Ondo State’s next 50 years surpass its past in growth, equity and opportunity.
