The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has celebrated the tribunal victory of Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa and his deputy, Dr. Olaide Adelami, describing it as a triumph for democracy and the will of the people.
In a statement released by the party, the State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, hailed the judgment as a resounding victory not just for the governor, but also for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC National Chairman, Dr. Umar Ganduje, the entire APC family, and the people of Ondo State.
The Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, led by Justice Benson Ogbubu, dismissed all petitions filed by five political parties, including the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The tribunal unanimously affirmed the election of Dr. Ayedatiwa as the duly elected governor in the November 16, 2024 poll.
Adetimehin described the ruling as a judicial confirmation of the mandate freely given to the APC by the people of Ondo State, adding that it reflects the strength of the party’s connection with the grassroots.
In a conciliatory gesture, Adetimehin called on the PDP’s governorship candidate, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, to return to the APC fold, noting his previous service as Deputy Governor under the party’s platform.
“Hon. Agboola Ajayi has a progressive background and once served as Deputy Governor on our platform. We believe he still shares in our ideals and we welcome him to return home,” Adetimehin said.
The party also commended the people of the Sunshine State for their resilience, patience, and peaceful conduct throughout the tribunal proceedings.
It urged continued support for the APC-led government as it strives to deliver good governance and sustainable development.
