The farming community of Ayede-Ogbese in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State was agog at the weekend as former Ondo State Commissioner for Transport, Otunba Omoniyi Omodara, was honoured by St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Ayede-Ogbese, for his outstanding and selfless contributions to the growth and development of the church.
The church auditorium was filled to capacity as family members, political associates, friends, and well-wishers joined other dignitaries to celebrate Otunba Omodara and other awardees during the church’s 85th anniversary thanksgiving service.
In his sermon, Rev. Akinboro urged Christians to deepen their spirit of giving, especially towards the work of God. He noted that no one gives to God in vain, stressing that sowing into the house of the Lord remains one of the most rewarding investments.
Quoting various scriptures, the clergy also reminded believers to depend solely on God for protection, good health, and abundant blessings, particularly as the nation continues to grapple with security challenges.
Responding after receiving the award, Otunba Omodara dedicated the honour to God and his family. He described Ayede-Ogbese as his “second home” and recalled that his long-standing relationship with St. Andrew’s Anglican Church dates back to his tenure as Executive Chairman of Akure North Local Government.
He thanked the church for the recognition and pledged his continued support to its developmental efforts.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of posthumous awards to departed heroes and heroines who contributed significantly to the progress of the church since its establishment 85 years ago.
