Ondo State has taken a significant step towards energy sufficiency with the groundbreaking ceremony of a 5-megawatt (MW) power project by Lincs Power Energy Solutions.
The project, facilitated by Hon. Olumbe Akinkugbe, Executive Director of Digital Exploration and Technical Services at Galaxy Backbone, aims to provide reliable electricity to Ondo West and its environs, fostering economic growth and enhancing residents’ quality of life.
The ceremony marked the commencement of the project’s construction phase, with Lincs Power Energy Solutions committing to timely delivery. Plans are also in place to upgrade the power capacity to 20MW in the future.
Dignitaries and stakeholders attended the event, including the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by Special Adviser on Energy, Dr. Johnson; the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, represented by the Sasere of Ondo Kingdom, High Chief Adeduro, and the Osemawe-in-Council; the Chairman of Ondo West Local Government, Hon. Ayo Akinfolarin; as well as political appointees, community leaders, and women representatives.
In his welcome address, Hon. Akinkugbe expressed gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering support in advancing energy sufficiency in the state. Governor Aiyedatiwa, through Dr. Johnson, commended Akinkugbe’s dedication and urged community support for the initiative. The Osemawe offered prayers for the project’s success, seeking divine guidance and protection.
The Project Manager for Lincs Power Energy Solutions, Otinniyi Adeyemi Michael, praised the governor for his encouragement and assured the audience that the project would be completed as promised. He also reiterated the commitment to upgrading the capacity to 20MW, ensuring a more robust and reliable power supply for Ondo State and its environs.
