Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, has lauded the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for not playing ostrich on any national issues , irrespective of whose ox is gored.
Olanipekun, who is the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo in Oyo State said this while delivering his address at the 12th and 13th combined convocation ceremony held on Saturday at the institution.
Governor Akeredolu was conferred with the award of Doctor of Law (Honoris Causa) at the event.
The Pro-Chancellor described Akeredolu as a professional in politics who is not professional politician or, put succinctly, a rare politician, with a second address.
He added that the Governor does not also sheepishly toe political selfish and narrow lines at the expense of national and communal interest.
Olanipekun explained that the council decided to confer a Honouary Doctorate Degree (LL.D) on Akeredolu based on his great contribution to the law professional, the nation and the Anglican Church of Nigeria.
The legal luminary noted that Akeredolu is a top-notcher within the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) who has, ever before becoming a Governor or plunging into the murky waters of politics, been contributing massively to the development, uplifting and upgrading of the church.
“I state on good authority and from personal experience that Akeredolu’s personal commitments to the church are legendary”, Olanipekun said.
