***Highlights Traditional Rulers’ Role in Peace and Development
The Iralepo of Isinkan, Oba (Barrister) Oluwagbemiga Olofin-Adimula (Arulewolasi III) has announced that Ajodun Orikadun Oba will henceforth be marked annually on December 27, beginning from this year, as a thanksgiving to God and a platform for community development.
The monarch made the announcement while featuring on “The Situation Room,” a live audience-participatory programme on Fresh FM 102.9FM.
Oba Olofin-Adimula said the annual celebration would include the empowerment of vulnerable members of the Isinkan community and serve as a rallying point to foster social interaction and unity among indigenes.
Speaking on the responsibilities of traditional rulers, the Iralepo said monarchs remain critical stakeholders in grassroots governance, working in conjunction with government to promote peace, justice and stability in their domains.
He also highlighted recent government policies affecting traditional institutions, including the implementation of the five per cent allocation from local government funds to traditional rulers, as well as the distribution of brand new vehicles to Obas, describing the initiatives as recognition of their role in community leadership.
The Iralepo stressed the importance of preserving culture and values, urging parents to encourage their children to speak their indigenous dialects at home in order to safeguard cultural heritage.
On relations among traditional rulers, Oba Olofin-Adimula said interactions among Obas across categories remain cordial, noting that unity within the traditional institution is key to societal harmony.
During the one-hour interactive session on “The Situation Room,” callers from different parts of the state commended the Iralepo’s leadership style, character and commitment to the peace and development of Isinkan community.
