***God Has Made You Minister Against All Odds – Akeredolu Tells Adegoroye
Akure sons and daughters as well as prominent politicians in the state gathered at the airport to receive the new minister of state for Transport and an Akure-born Prince, Ademola Adegoroye.
The jubilating crowd led by the cultural troupe sang various Akure dialect songs as the minister displayed the degree of his joy with dance steps.
The entourage which included members of various associations and sons and daughters of the ancient city later proceeded to the Governor’s office where Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN and top government functionaries were already waiting to receive the minister.
The Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s office was filled to capacity as the Governor led the gathering to sing the popular Wale Glorious song in honour of the state capital.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister, Prince Ademola Adegoroye narrated how his political career was boosted with the support of the Governor and other prominent leaders.
Adegoroye thanked Governor Akeredolu who he said stood by him with everything he has and promised to keep playing his part towards the success of his administration.
Prince Adegoroye said the people of Akure will never forget the good deeds the Governor who he said has made it possible for an Akure man to become a Minister for the first time.
Prince Adegoroye who could not hide his joy appreciated God Almighty and sang various songs of praise, saying that God has elevated him through the Governor.
He was quick to thank Governor Akeredolu for his immeasurable roles, which he said led to his emergence as a Minster of the Federal Republic.
The Minister, who explained that it’s the first time an Akure man would be appointed as Minister, disclosed that the appointment came at a time when people thought everything was finished for him.
“An Akure man has never been Minister before. What you have done for us is something that no one has ever done. And Akure will mark it. Please, forgive and forget all that Akure has done in the past. You will see the difference from now on.
“The Governor is a man of integrity. He said go and I will back you. When a man has integrity, when he says yes, the yes will not change. Mr Governor, you have shown mercy to me. God has used you to take me up, God will continue to lift you and your children up sir. An Akure person has never been Minister before.” He said.
Receiving the new Minister and his entourage, Governor Akeredolu, who expressed delight over his appointment, said only God gives position, adding that God has given him victory despite all odds.
The Governor pleaded with the poeple not to distract the new Minister with endless responsibilities.
Akeredolu called on politicians to
leave everything to God for him to decide and avoid greed, adding that emergence of Prince Adegoroye as a Minister of the Federal Republic is a divine intervention.
At the palace of the Deji of Akure was another large gathering of traditional authorities as well as prominent sons and daughters of the ancient city who had gathered for the welcome ceremony.
Personalies at the event included the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo, the Edemo of Akure, High Chief Folabi Fayehun, Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Public and Intergovernmental Relations, Dr. (Mrs) Olubunmi Ademosu and former Secretary to State Government, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi.
The Deji, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo said the appointment of Hon. Ademola Adegoroye as Minister is a great plus to Akure and Ondo State in general.
Similarly, the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Victor Kiladejo called on the Minister to use the office to attract more development to the state and it’s people.
Speaking with newsmen, Special Adviser to Governor on Intergovernmental Relations, Dr.(Mrs) Olubunmi Ademosu said the rousing welcome at the airport, Governor’s office and the palace shows the degree of acceptance and love the people have for the Minister.
Similarly, Former Secretary to State Government, Tayo Oluwatuyi said the people of the state capital and Akure Kingdom expressed hope and confidence that the appointment will benefit the people in the area of social infrastructure, especially rail transportation.
