Makinde, S’west leaders set for commissioning of new Ondo PDP Secretariat
Dec 14, 2020
PRESS STATEMENT.
REBUILT ONDO STATE PDP SECRETARIAT READY FOR COMMISSIONING ON TUESDAY, 22nd DECEMBER, 2020.
The newly rebuilt Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretariat, will be commissioned on Tuesday, 22nd December, 2020 in Akure.
On 21st October, 2020 , hoodlums disguising as EndSars protesters, ransacked, vandalised and burnt down the PDP State Secretariat. While the main building was reduced to rubbles, adjoining buildings were also torched. Office equipment as well as vehicles found within the Secretariat premises were all burnt.
Through the benevolence of Prince Godday Anthony Erewa, from Etikan kingdom of llaje Local Government Area, a new and better Secretariat, now stands solidly on the same spot the burnt one stood.
Prince Erewa during the foundation laying ceremony remarked that, “we don’t want to be labelled as irresponsible tenants. If we no longer have a State Secretariat, how do we run our party? Our detractors will jubilate, mock and think it is over for us. Before the end of December this year, a new Secretariat will be standing on this same spot. “
In matching promises with action, Prince Erewa has delivered on his promise to rebuild the main Secretariat single handedly.
Expected at the Commissioning ceremony are the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the South West Zonal Chairman, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, members of Board of Trustees of the PDP and party leaders from all the Local Government Areas of the State.
This rebuilt Secretariat, has rekindled our hope and renewed our energies for a stronger and united PDP in spite of our present challenges.
We wish to appreciate all those who visited us while we operated from under mango trees. Those who truly empathised with us while the reconstruction work went on. Our appreciation to Senator Ayo Akinyelure, Senator representing Ondo Central for providing a borehole for the Secretariat. Also, Senator Nicholas Tofowomo who delivered 400 plastic chairs to the renovated Conference Hall.
As we prepare for this historic Commissioning, it is a challenge to all party faithfuls to brace up to contribute their quota to building a party that will blaze the trail like we have manifestly demonstrated in this case.
For those who thought they have done their worst by burning down our Secretariat, shame on them.
In conclusion, we want to appeal to the panel set up by the State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN not to use this Commissioning as an excuse not to recommend compensation that is rightfully due to us.
