In a colourful and well-attended handover ceremony, the Rotary Club of Akure Prestige ushered in a new era of leadership and service, reinforcing its unwavering commitment to humanitarian ideals and community development.
Held at the Rotary Civic Centre, adjacent to the Oba’s Palace in Alagbaka, Akure, the event marked the official transition of stewardship from the outgoing president, Rotarian Oloruntoba Adegoke, to the newly inducted president, Rotarian Ajibade Dauda Kolawole.
The atmosphere was charged with excitement and camaraderie as Rotarians, guests, and well-wishers gathered to witness the symbolic passing of the baton, a tradition that not only signifies continuity but also celebrates the shared values of service, fellowship, and excellence.
In his acceptance speech, Rotarian Kolawole pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessors while unveiling a bold vision for the new Rotary year.
At the heart of his agenda is a flagship project focused on the renovation and equipping of hostels at the Ondo State School for the Hearing Impaired in Akure, a gesture that underscores the club’s commitment to inclusivity and support for vulnerable populations.
The event also featured the presentation of awards and certificates of recognition to outstanding members who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the club’s mission.
Applause echoed through the hall as each awardee was celebrated for their selfless contributions and exemplary service.
Reflecting on his tenure, immediate past president Oloruntoba Adegoke recounted the milestones achieved under his leadership, including impactful community interventions, youth empowerment programmes, and strengthened club operations.
He expressed confidence that the incoming administration would soar to even greater heights.
As the gavel changed hands and a new team took charge, the Rotary Club of Akure Prestige reaffirmed its resolve to deepen its service footprint and foster stronger community bonds.
With Rotarian Ajibade Dauda Kolawole at the helm, the club is poised to deliver another year of meaningful projects, transformative partnerships, and lasting impact.
Indeed, the handover ceremony was more than a change of leadership, it was a celebration of Rotary’s enduring ideals and a renewed call to serve above self.
