The authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have announced the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, marking the beginning of the 12th month in the Islamic calendar.
In a message posted on Tuesday via X (formerly Twitter), Haramain, a Saudi-based online news platform, stated that Wednesday would be the first day of Dhul Hijjah.
Muslims from around the world travel to Makkah during this month to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.
According to the announcement, the Day of Arafat will fall on June 5, while Eid-el-Adha, Islam’s biggest festival, will be observed on June 6.
Dhul Hijjah is regarded as one of the holiest months in Islam — a period of increased devotion, reflection, and worship.
