The Ondo State Police Command has arrested one Bolaji Oluwasetire in Ore over a disturbing case of indecent assault involving a minor.
According to police sources, Kolawole Joseph of the NNPC Depot Area, Ore, had on October 1, 2025, reported to the police that his six-year-old daughter was indecently assaulted by the suspect, who was caught in the act of forcing the child to rub his genitals with her hands.
Acting swiftly on the report, detectives from the Gender Desk Office of the Ore Divisional Headquarters were dispatched to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
However, while in custody, Oluwasetire reportedly began to vomit a greenish substance. Upon interrogation, he confessed to having ingested a herbicide in a desperate bid to evade justice for his criminal act. He was immediately rushed to the General Hospital, Ore, where he is receiving treatment under close medical supervision.
The Command has assured the public that the case is being treated with utmost seriousness.
According to a police statement, “The minor victim is safe, and appropriate support services are being provided to her family. Investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will face the full weight of the law upon recovery.”
Reaffirming the Command’s zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, warned that no offender will escape justice under his watch.
He further urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspected cases of abuse, regardless of how minor they may appear.
“Let it be clearly stated that Ondo State will never be a safe haven for sexual predators. Perpetrators of sexual and gender-based violence will be hunted down, arrested, and decisively prosecuted. There will be no hiding place for offenders,” CP Lawal declared.
