The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has responded to the resignation of its former Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kennedy Peretei, describing his recent comments about the party as vulgar, malicious, and lacking in decorum.
In a press statement signed by the PDP’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Leye Igbabo, the party criticized Peretei for what it called a “desecration” of the same platform that had afforded him immense opportunities in the past.
“While it is within the right of any person to freely associate or disassociate from any organization, Mr. Kennedy Peretei’s description of the PDP smacks of misguidance, malice, and mischief,” the statement read. “It unfortunately robs him of the decency expected from someone who has immensely benefited from the same organization he now despises.”
The party expressed disbelief at Peretei’s claim that the PDP was heading for political extinction, questioning how someone who previously aspired to lead the party could label it as dead. “It is amusing that Mr. Peretei, who once sought the chairmanship of the PDP, now refers to it as being on its way to the morgue. This contradiction suggests that his remarks are born out of personal disappointment rather than fact,” the statement added.
The PDP reiterated that it remains vibrant and strong in Ondo State, attributing increasing public support to what it described as the poor governance record of the current administration.
“The party is alive and bouncing in Ondo State. The growing interest in the party’s leadership is proof that the PDP remains relevant and is becoming the choice of the people, especially as the present administration has shown a lack of preparedness for governance,” Igbabo said.
The party urged political actors to learn to accept outcomes, whether favorable or not, instead of making baseless allegations driven by personal ambitions.
Mr. Peretei had recently announced his resignation from the PDP, citing internal crises and lack of direction as reasons for his decision.
