Jun 30, 2025

The political landscape of Ondo South witnessed a significant development over the weekend as His Royal Highness, Dele Omosehin, the Traditional Prime Minister (Lisa) of the Osooro Kingdom, officially declared his intention to contest in the 2027 general elections.

The declaration, made during a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting involving representatives from Okitipupa, Irele, and neighbouring communities, marked a defining moment in the evolving political movement inspired by HRH Omosehin’s longstanding commitment to grassroots service and empowerment.

Addressing a diverse audience comprising youth leaders, women’s groups, community heads, and political allies, HRH Omosehin explained that his aspiration stems from a deep-seated concern for the future of his people and an earnest desire to scale up his contributions through elective office.

“I am not driven by personal ambition, but by the growing demand for responsible, inclusive, and results-oriented leadership. The time has come to elevate the work we’ve done and reach more people through formal representation,” he stated.

As the founder of the Bamidele Omosehin Foundation (BOF) and President of the Bamidele Omosehin Group (BOG), he has spearheaded numerous philanthropic and developmental initiatives, ranging from youth empowerment and educational support to widow care, healthcare outreach, and community development projects.

The event was marked by enthusiastic declarations of support from stakeholders, prayers from traditional rulers, and unanimous pledges of loyalty from various interest groups. HRH Omosehin was widely described as “a beacon of hope whose humility, generosity, and commitment to human capital development set him apart.”

Although the specific office he intends to contest remains undisclosed, political observers believe that his entry into the 2027 race will significantly shape the political dynamics of Ondo South.
