Herdsmen kill father, Son in Ondo Community + Photos

Suspected herdsmen have reported killed Mr Jacob Abiodun Babalola and his son Mr. Sola Babalola at Ifon headquarters of Ose local government area of Ondo State.

Properties including farm belonging to the community’s youth leader, Mr Olufemi Babalola were also razed by the assailants who have been unleashing terror in the community.

As at the time of filing this report, the night attack on the ancient community left casualties whose number could not be ascertained.

According to the community youth leader, Mr Olufemi Babalola who claimed he was the target because of his resolve to checkmate the activities of the herdsmen who have made life unbearable for the people of the community.

“The assailants came for me, because they couldn’t get me, they killed my father and brother. They also went to my farm to destroy it.”

“No one is safe in this community again, who knows when next they ‘ll return to swoop on us. I appeal to the state government and security agencies to come to our aid.”

“It would be recalled that in November 2020 our Monarch, a first class traditional ruler was murdered by the herdsmen, and as we speak, the perpetrators have not been brought to book.”

“The Inccesant attacks on the people of Ifon and it’s environ is terrifying and everyone here now sleeps with one eye closed.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the story and promised that the state Police command would fish out the perpetrators.
