BeMore Ondo 2021: Mrs Akeredolu leads Yoga exercise, as girls acquire entrepreneurial skills

The 7th day’s activities at the Bemore Summer Bootcamp started with early morning exercise routines and dance lessons.

Following that, the girls had time for their devotion, sanitation and personal hygiene, after which they had their fruits and breakfast.

The girls proceeded to PSTI for their classes. Today program was Introduction to different skills. At the Bemore Summer boot camp, each girl who passes through must learn a skill.

According to the coordinator, Bassey Obeten, skills acquisition is very important so that girls can start earning a living through self-employment even while still studying.

Today Skill acquisition classes introduced to the girls were bag making, wig-making, bead-making, and creative art. Girls were grouped into classes according to their preferences.

The day’s highlight was the visit from the founder of the Bemore Initiative, Her Excellency Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu.

She asked the girls about their welfare at the boot camp, encouraging them to make the best use of the opportunity given to them by taking their lessons in ICT, Solar and other life-enhancing skills seriously. The First Lady, who is a Yoga enthusiast, taught the girls yoga posses that can help them with stress management, mental health, mindfulness, healthy eating, weight loss and quality sleep.

Introducing yoga to the girls, the founder explained that it is a group of physical, mental disciplines that originated in ancient India that offers physical and mental health benefits for people of all ages.

They ended today’s activities with Taekwondo training for those who would showcase the Korean Martial Art during the closing ceremony.
