The Founder of BEMORE Empowered Girls Foundation, Her Excellency, Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has described the just-concluded BEMORE Summer Bootcamp 2025 in Ibadan as “two weeks of transformation” that has turned hundreds of young girls into bold, self-aware and skilled young women.

Speaking at the closing ceremony held at All Saints College, Ibadan, Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu said the bootcamp, which ran for two weeks, provided participants with knowledge, practical skills and new experiences that will shape their lives and future.

“This year’s camp was special, with the introduction of flag football by Gridiron Gems, Browns Nigeria, and NAFA. It brought colour, excitement, and energy to camp life while teaching teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship,” she noted.

She expressed deep gratitude to the BEMORE faculty, technical partners—Matrix Lab Technology and Ashdam Solar—matrons, assistant matrons and facilitators, saying their commitment to nurturing young girls into confident and knowledgeable women remains the magic behind BEMORE’s success.

The former First Lady also thanked the Chairman and Special Guest of Honour, as well as sponsors whose support made the life-changing experience possible.

According to her, the serene environment of All Saints College provided the perfect atmosphere for the bootcamp, away from the bustle of city life.

Addressing the graduating girls, she urged them to put into practice the skills acquired during the programme and embrace entrepreneurship by turning their new knowledge into income.

“With your solar home systems, you now have the power to light up your homes, charge your laptops and phones, and even create streams of passive income. That is empowerment, that is innovation, and that is the future we want for you,” she said.

Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu further noted that the laptops given to participants would prepare them for digital literacy and enable them to face examinations such as JAMB with confidence.

She reminded the girls that the BEMORE sisterhood remains available to mentor and guide them through their educational, career and entrepreneurial pursuits.

“Go forth, my BEMORE Girls. Step out boldly, change your world, and let your light shine,” she concluded.

The BEMORE Summer Bootcamp, which began in 2017, is an initiative of Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu aimed at equipping young girls with life skills in solar technology, ICT, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
