First Aquagrico Farms is a family-owned agro-tech company headquartered in the Ondo Highlands. Though formally incorporated in 2016, our agricultural heritage dates back to the early 1920s. We blend traditional African farming wisdom with advanced technology to produce safe, high-quality crops all year round.
As part of our commitment to community development and agricultural innovation, we are expanding our team. In this first phase, we are recruiting 200 new employees, with an additional 300 roles opening soon as we transition our current 2-hectare hydroponic operation into a fully automated 10-hectare high-tech facility powered by Dutch greenhouse technology.
We are currently hiring for two key positions:
1. Grower
About the Role
This is an entry-level opportunity for candidates seeking hands-on greenhouse experience. You will participate in daily crop routines and learn modern hydroponic production. Full training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planting, pruning, lowering and leaning, pollination, and harvesting
- Monitor plant health and report any signs of pests, stress, or nutrient deficiencies
- Operate irrigation and fertigation systems under supervision
- Support climate control operations
- Maintain strict greenhouse hygiene and sanitation
- Follow crop schedules to achieve production targets
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or related fields
- No prior experience required
- Physically fit, proactive, and willing to learn
- Good communication and teamwork skills
2. Junior Agronomist
About the Role
You will support the Lead Agronomist in crop nutrition management, irrigation planning, pest and disease control, and data-driven decision-making. The role focuses primarily on tomatoes and bell peppers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing crop cycles
- Keep accurate records and prepare crop performance reports
- Support Integrated Pest Management (IPM) activities
- Work closely with Growers and the operations team
- Stay informed on new agronomy and hydroponic research
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or final-year study) in Agronomy, Agriculture, Horticulture, Soil Science, or related disciplines
- Basic understanding of crop production and plant nutrition
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in farm or greenhouse work is an added advantage
- Good observation and data interpretation skills
- Proactive, organised, and detail-oriented
