The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellent service delivery as he formally swore in the second batch of Commissioners into the State Executive Council.
The swearing-in ceremony, held on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the International Centre for Culture and Events (The Dome), Igbatoro Road, Akure, was described by the Governor as a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to build a greater Ondo State.
Addressing the newly inaugurated Commissioners, Governor Aiyedatiwa urged them to hit the ground running, stressing that the expectations of the people are high and only the best performance will be acceptable.
“The people of Ondo State expect nothing but the best from us, having entrusted us with an overwhelming mandate. We must strive to deliver on all our electioneering promises,” he said.
The Governor explained that while the appointments were delayed by design, his administration believes in “slow and steady governance”—one that emphasizes consistency, strategic planning, and long-term progress over hasty decisions.
“This concept highlights the value of persistence, patience, and steady progress in achieving goals. Within the first 100 days of our administration, we have been able to prove that slow and steady wins the race,” he noted.
Governor Aiyedatiwa congratulated the new Commissioners, describing them as individuals with unassailable qualifications, impeccable track records, and a proven dedication to public service.
He charged them to uphold integrity, respect due process, and foster cordial relationships within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
He also cautioned families and associates of the appointees against exerting undue pressure for personal or sectional interests, emphasizing that the administration is guided solely by the interest of the people.
The Governor urged the new Commissioners to align themselves with the administration’s 7-point development agenda, OUR EASE, which focuses on: Opportunities for Economic Development, universal Access to Food Security, revamping Education, expanded Access to Healthcare, advancing Infrastructure, strengthening Security, empowerment of Youth and Social Welfare
He also highlighted some of the key achievements of his administration, including infrastructural improvements, new socio-economic welfare programs for the elderly and vulnerable, and proactive investor engagements yielding tangible economic results.
On security, the Governor reaffirmed his government’s zero-tolerance stance against criminality, noting the recent passage of a bill prescribing stiffer penalties, including the death sentence for kidnappers and abductors.
Governor Aiyedatiwa assured others still awaiting appointments that ample opportunities remain to serve the state in various capacities.
In his welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, described the appointment of the new Commissioners as a strategic step towards inclusive and people-oriented governance. He commended Governor Aiyedatiwa’s visionary leadership and dedication to the OUR EASE agenda, noting that the appointees were selected based on merit, competence, and loyalty.
Responding on behalf of the new Commissioners, Mr. Omoyofunmi Segun expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to serve, promising to discharge their responsibilities diligently and in the best interest of the state.
The event was graced by dignitaries including the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Esther Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa; Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji; Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusegun Odusola; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omajuwa; Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip; APC State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin; Hon.
