Online Media Professionals ’ll Amplify Govt’s Developmental Strides – Adesuyan
Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, has reaffirmed Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s determination to transform the state’s economy through a strategic development agenda anchored on industrialization, tourism, and reduced dependence on the civil service structure.
Ajanaku stated this in Akure during a courtesy visit by the executive and members of the Online Media Professionals of Nigeria (OMP), Ondo State Chapter.
He explained that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s style of governance is deliberate, structured, and focused on achieving sustainable prosperity rather than short-term populism.
“The administration of Governor Aiyedatiwa is not slow, as some may think; it is tactical and strategic,” Ajanaku said. “To move Ondo State from a civil service-driven economy to an industrialized one requires careful and meticulous planning.”
The Commissioner disclosed that preparations are underway for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to Ondo State next year for the official groundbreaking of the Ondo Deep Seaport, a signature project expected to transform the state’s economic landscape.
He further revealed that a modular refinery with a production capacity of 500,000 litres of petrol daily would soon commence operations in the state, while discussions are ongoing for the establishment of a cement factory in Okeluse, Ose Local Government Area.
According to him, these projects will create massive employment opportunities and boost the state’s internally generated revenue.
Beyond industrialization, Ajanaku noted that the Aiyedatiwa administration is also prioritizing tourism development, with plans to transform Araromi-Obu into a world-class resort destination in partnership with investors behind Lagos’ Eko Atlantic City.
He added that contracts have been awarded for the modernization of Idanre Hills, including the installation of elevators to enhance accessibility for tourists.
“In the Southwest, after Lagos, Ondo State has the greatest economic potential, we are richly endowed with natural resources, tourism assets, and an oil-producing status under the Niger Delta Development Commission. The Aiyedatiwa administration is determined to harness these advantages to build a self-sustaining economy.” Ajanaku remarked.
He also revealed that key infrastructural projects, including the Shagari Bridge in Akure, are nearing completion and will be showcased as part of activities marking Ondo State’s 50th anniversary in February 2026.
Commending the media for its contributions to national development, Ajanaku assured that the Ministry of Information would continue to partner with online media professionals to promote government policies and combat misinformation.
He announced that the ministry would soon launch a mobile app to track fake news and a dedicated website to enhance public engagement and information dissemination.
Earlier, Joseph Adesuyan, Chairman of the Online Media Professionals (OMP), congratulated Ajanaku on his appointment and pledged the group’s commitment to partnering with the ministry in amplifying the developmental strides of the Aiyedatiwa administration.
