Dec 25, 2020

The Acting Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, has urged members of the University Community to look forward to a better New Year and be modest in the celebrations of the festive season.

He stated this while speaking at the Christmas Carol Service of the Institution held in the University Multipurpose Hall on Tuesday, December 22, 2020.

Prof. Ige urged the gathering to look beyond the challenges of the outgoing year and remember to be kind by sharing out of the little they have with neighbours, and family and friends.

Prof. Ige said, “No doubt, year 2020 has been an unusual year in all ramifications. The unprecedented Corona Virus pandemic and its attendant lockdown have made the economy of many nations to crumble. This has consequently brought about new normal into the operations of almost all organizations across the world.

“However, in all these, the Lord has graciously preserved you and I to witness this season of joy which brings to remembrance the mercy and love of God for mankind through our Lord Jesus Christ.

“As we gather to commemorate that wonderful story of love at this year’s Carols, I want us to look beyond the storms and upheavals of the present time and appreciate the goodness of God to us. I charge you to focus on the positives and be grateful that we are alive.

“I also enjoin you to be modest and kind in the way you go about the celebration of this wonderful season. At this period, it is more rewarding to imbibe the reason for the season, which is giving and sharing out of the love of Christ. Therefore, let us share out of the little we have with families, friends and the needy, while we look forward to a better and more prosperous New Year.”

The VC thanked staffers for their patience and understanding and for diligently reporting for duty as and when due in spite of obvious financial challenges.

He assured them that Management would not rest on its oars towards bringing things back to normal.

Several churches and groups presented songs at the Service while lessons from the Scriptures were taken by officers of the University and invited guests, including the Alale of Akungba Akoko, Oba Sunday Adeyeye, local government officials, and ministers of gospel.
