A Professor of Applied Social and Environmental Psychology at Adekunle Ajasin University, Prof. Oluyinka Ojedokun, is set to deliver the institution’s 56th inaugural lecture on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The lecture, titled “God Made the Earth, Humans Made the Town,” will hold at the University Multipurpose Hall by 2:00 p.m., with guests expected to be seated by 1:30 p.m.
According to a statement issued by the Chairman of the Ceremonies Committee and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adebisi Daramola, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, will preside over the event.
Prof. Ojedokun began his academic journey at the University of Ibadan, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1998. He subsequently obtained a Master’s degree in Social and Personality Psychology in 2002 and a PhD in the same field in 2009 from the university.
He joined Adekunle Ajasin University in 2010 as a Lecturer I in the Department of Pure and Applied Psychology and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in 2019.
Within the university, he has served in several academic and administrative capacities, including Acting Head of Department, Coordinator of Postgraduate Academic Programmes, Departmental Seminar Coordinator, Editor of Social & Management Scientists, Pre-Degree Coordinator for the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, and Chairman of the FSMS Journal Club.
A prolific scholar, Prof. Ojedokun has authored 75 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to 13 books, while also editing two volumes. He has presented papers at 16 conferences locally and internationally, including engagements in South Africa, Thailand, Norway, Uganda, Turkey and the Netherlands.
Beyond his home institution, he has served as External Examiner at the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences, University of the Western Cape, and in the Department of Public Health and Family Medicine at the University of Cape Town. He is also an External Moderator at the University of the Western Cape and a Research Associate at the University of Pretoria.
In addition, he serves as Article Editor for SAGE Open Journal and Overseas Associate Editor for the Asia Pacific Journal of Management and Entrepreneurial Research (APJMER).
In recognition of his scholarly contributions, Prof. Ojedokun has received several grants, fellowships and awards, including research grants and a laureateship from the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (2017–2018), a research grant from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (2016–2017), and a postdoctoral fellowship at North-West University (2013–2015).
He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, Association for Psychological Science, and the International Society for the Study of Behavioural Development.
He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Positive Psychology Association of Nigeria and the Nigerian Association of Social Psychologists.
