Isolo prince, Adefaka, decorated Deputy Comptroller of Immigration along 147 newly promoted Ondo officers
The 148 officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) Ondo State Command, who were promoted recently, have been decorated with their new ranks.
The NIS released lists of massive promotions across the country around September 24 showing officers who successfully made it to the exciting exercise.
Assistant Comptrollers of Immigration namely ACI Akinsehinwa S. Adefaka and ACI Adeshina Ayodele Adewumi, who were among the 148 officers of the Ondo State Command that made the promotion, were decorated with their new ranks as Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI).
DCI Akinsehinwa Adefaka, a prince of Isolo in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State, has been congratulated by his traditional ruler on the throne, His Royal Highness Oba (Dr.) Edward Kolawole Adejoyegbe Adewole, Osalade II, Akesogun Orisa Obaluaye Mosu, the Osolo of Isolo, and the Oba Adegbemiga Ojo Olofin-Adimula, the Iralepo of Isinkan Land in Akure West Local Council Development Area.
To the Osolo, “It gladdens our hearts in Isolo Kingdom that one of our illustrious sons, Prince Akinsehinwa Adefaka, has climbed further to the top rank of Deputy Comptroller in the Nigerian Immigration Service. We are proud. It is an achievement in the service to the father land, which is not easy to come by.
“On behalf of myself andvthe Isolo people, our appreciation go to God Almighty and the Nigeria Immigration Service leadership, especially the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. Tunji Olubunmi Ojo, for the meritorious promotion done for our son and others.”
Speaking at the decoration ceremony, held on the premises of the Service’s State Command in Akure on Wednesday October 9, 2024, the Ondo State Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, CIS Ambrose Akinrinsola, urged the newly promoted officers and men to be more dedicated to their duties.

While decorating them at the Command’s headquarters on Igbatoro Road, Akure, CIS Akinrinsola stated that those promoted excelled in the stipulated examinations, and that their elevation is expected to serve as a morale booster for the officers and men.
He charged them to continue embracing professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
“I will urge them to put in more effort. Promotion comes with responsibilities. We thank the Minister of Interior, Hon. Tunji Ojo, and the Comptroller General, and we give our assurance that, because of the confidence reposed in us, we will improve our services.
“We are going to be patriotic, security-conscious, and we can assure Nigerians that we have all the necessary facilities in abundance. We will not let the service down. This promotion is a call to duty, a sign of additional responsibilities, and we will not disappoint Nigerians.”
A total of 148 officers were promoted in the Ondo State Command – the highest number so far.
Akinrinsola encouraged those, who were not promoted, to work harder, assuring them that they would be considered in the next promotion exercise.
The various ranks of the promoted and decorated officers include Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) – 7, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (ACI) – 4, Chief Superintendent of Immigration (CSI) – 1, Superintendent of Immigration (SI) – 5, Deputy Superintendent of Immigration (DSI) – 37, Assistant Superintendent of Immigration 1 (ASI 1) – 24, Assistant Superintendent of Immigration 2 (ASI 2) – 18, Inspector of Immigration (II) – 21, Assistant Inspector of Immigration (AII) – 2, and Immigration Assistant 2 (IA2) – 29, totalling 148.
Their promotions, according to a list obtained by The DEFENDER, are effective January 1, 2024.
The newly promoted officers expressed their gratitude, stating that the elevation would motivate them to do more.
DCI Adefaka, in his comment, described the promotion not only meritorious but also as one achievement that is motivating. “I owe my new rank to Nigeria and all leaders of the Service” while pledging to put more effort in helping to further up the standard of the Nigerian Immigration Service.
Also among the newly promoted officers was Mr Taiwo Alebiosu, the Command’s Public Relations Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Immigration (DSI), who was decorated with his new rank of Superintendent of Immigration on Wednesday.
“I feel elated and happy, not only because I have been promoted, but also because numerous officers who had been praying for promotion this year have finally received it.
“I want to thank the Minister of Interior for the promotions and the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Mrs Kemi Nana. We know that you have started a good job, and we believe you will continue it. We are confident that next year will be the turn of those who have not been promoted this year. We appreciate the improvements in welfare that you are introducing into the Nigerian Immigration Service, and we trust that all members will feel the impact.”
The event was witnessed by heads of security agencies and relatives of the officers.
