2020 polls: Don’t emulate Oyo people —Akeredolu tells Akoko people

Sep 12, 2020

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has urged the people of Akoko to remain and vote for the progressive party (APC) to avoid the bitter experience of the people of Oyo state who are now regretting voting for the PDP administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Speaking, while addressing a large crowd of APC supporters at Oke-Agbe, the headquarters of Akoko-North West Local Government Area of the State in continuation of his campaign tour, Akeredolu described the PDP as a directionlesss party that doesn’t value intellectualism and candour, hence, must be rejected by the people of the state.

Akeredolu to Akoko People: “NDDC Constructing Roads in Akoko because Ondo is in the progressives Camp; Oyo people now regretting they voted PDP, do not allow trial and error governance in our State”

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is a party of the locusts that has no purpose, ideology, direction, focus and programme for the peopple other than to loot, maim, kill and destroy, the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, declared on Friday.

Quoting the words of a legendary Greek Philosopher, Plato, Akeredolu, who is seeking a return to the Alagbaka Government House, Akure, said “governance is meant for the philosopher kings, and those embedded with intellectual superiority, not for the appetitives, and tax collectors”

Akeredolu said the mistakes made by the people of Oyo State who voted the PDP in 2019 general elections must not be repeated in Ondo State.

The former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) said very expressly, “do not vote for PDP. Niger/Delta Commission (NDDC) is currently constructing Arigidi-Akoko to Oke-Agbe Road because Ondo is in the progressives Camp. That is a rare privilege that must not be abused.

“Do not make the mistake made by the people of Oyo State in 2019. Do not gamble with PDP reign here. It is an abomination to allow the PDP here. PDP is a directionless party. Oyo people are now regretting that they voted PDP in 2019. Oyo people are now yearning for return of APC to Agodi government house.

“May we never wallow in the euphoria of regret in Ondo. Please do not allow trial and error governance in our State.

“Also, do not vote for a party without relations. A party that has only one Assembly member in the whole of Nigeria is valueless, and they cannot be empirically investigated. Please reject them with your votes come October 10th.

Thousands of PDP members in the local government, led by the party’s candidate for Akoko North West State Constituency 2 in 2019 election, Mr. Bankole Mohammed, defected to the APC.

Receving the defectors, the State Chairman of the APC, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, promised to treat the defectors with equity, fairness and justice.

He said ZLP in Akure has collapsed into the APC while in Akoko, all PDP members are joining the APC in their thousands daily.

Adetimehin enjoined all party members to ensure that they win their respective polling units for the APC.

Ealier, the Governor was hosted by the 27 traditional rulers in the local government at the palace of Akala of Ikaramu-Akoko, Oba A.O. Momodu.

The Governor promised to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths of the local goverment through the moribound Arigidi-Akoko Tomato Factory.

“A government spent #2.2billion of tax payers money in phoney attempt to bring Arigidi-Akoko Tomato factory back to live but the factory did not produce a bottle of tomato till they were voted out. The place was a thick bush before they were rejected in 2016.

“Let me assure you, as we are working towards the deep sea port in Ondo South, we shall ensure that the tomatoe factory in this local government is resuscitated through Public Private Partnership (PPP) to boost our internally generated revenue and create jobs for our people” Akeredolu, said.

Responding to the Governor, Oba Momodu, flanked by other 26 traditional rulers in the local goverment, said there was no alternative to Akeredolu among those inerested in the governorship position.

The traditional rulers, including the Owa of Ogbagi, Oba Victor Adetona, Oba Yisa Olanipekun, the Zaki of Arigidi, Oba (Dr) Oladunjoye Fajana Ajana of Afa, Okeagbe D, Oba Sunday Mogaji Osunla of Erusu D, Oba Alex Jimoh Owage of Oge, Okeagbe D and 20 Oba C. O. Jimoh Oloso of Oso, Ajowa, amongst others, said the people of the local government are solidly behind the re-election bid of the governor.

On the entourage of Akeredolu were his running mate, Mr. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, Director-General of the campaign, Rt. Hon. Victor Adekanye Olabimtan, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on NDDC, Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, Human Rights Activist and Chairman of Adekunle Ajasin University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, amongst others.
