Traditional rites for the Aladeokun of Alade Idanre in Ondo State, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ayodele Olusegun Akinbola who joined his ancestors during a brief illness on Friday, have commenced.
Oba Akinbola, who recently marked his twenty fifth years on the throne passed away on 15th of October 2020 at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile Ife. Osun State.
According to High Chief Akinsowon Oladipo, the Lisa of Alade and traditional Prime Minister and next in rank to the late Aladeokun confirmed the traditional ruler’s demise.
He said his 13years closeness as High Chief under the late Oba Akinbola let him see him as a lover of his people who was very passionate about the development of his community.
He remembered him as very good in carrying his people along in decision making.
Mrs Ibitola Akinsowon, one of the women leaders in the community described Oba Akinbola as a person who loved peace and always eager to please others. She saw him as a very generous leader.
Chief Toba Akinboro, the Aruwasokun of Alade Idanre said the late Oba was a very loving Oba who loved his subjects and always took advice from both young and old.
Meanwhile, traditional rites on small scale had started with trees in the community being trimmed while those in the palace were being cut. Still as part of the burial rites stray goats, dogs and other domestic animals are being killed freely since yesterday Friday 16th October 2020.
ALADE GETS NEW REGENT
Princess Temiloluwa Akinbola has emerged the regent of Alade Idanre, Following the transition of the Aladeokun, Oba Olusegun Akinbola few days ago.
Princess Akinbola is one of the direct children of the late monarch.
Report says her choice was a unanimous decision of the Aladeokun in council and this led to the formal presentation of the Staff of Office to her by the Ayadi of Alade Chief Smart Adeghaka, early this morning.
Princess Temiloluwa Akinbola is aged 50 years and a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State
She is expected to start her reign immediately the funeral rites are concluded.
The late Oba Akinbola joined his ancestors on 15th of October 2020 after a brief illness at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, where he incidentally lectured for many years before his ascension to the throne of Alade Idanre in 1995.
