Ahead of the October 10 governorship election in Ondo state, the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and state Deputy Governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi and his estranged boss, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu are now on the war path over the fee of renting MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure for the ZLP campaign flag off slated for this week.

SUNSHINETRUTH reports that the Personal Assistant (PA) to the Deputy Governor, Sam Ogunmusi had posted on his Facebook page that “Aketi gave Democracy park to PDP for N5m, now he insisted ZLP must pay N11m for same park. Is this fear or what?” this afternoon to lament what he described as an unjust treatment from the governor.

Reacting to the post, the Spokesman of Akeredolu/Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization, Richard Olabode Olatunde, said Agboola should seek financial assistance if he is broke.

Olatunde opined, “How much is 11million from your N10Billion? Stop dragging AKETI’s name into all your problems. If you are broke, look for help.”

Ogunmusi replied, “It is not about the money but about maintaining a standard on govt properties. It sud not always be used to witch hunt but we sud be able to regulate things as a discipline civil society for us to grow as a nation.

“With the way things are going , our system will always collapse . That is d direction am looking at not issue of maybe the money is too much or not. I think all these block heads wud open now…Sam Ogunmusi.

“Shame that the govt can not maintain a standard but allowed wickedness and parochial thinking to prevail in its system.

One of the Facebook users, Joshua Kester posited that, “I can’t understand this our country. The place belong to the state and their should be standard procedure for rent.

“It shouldn’t have anything to do with Aketi. When are we go to start running things as a system rather than individual’s decision? No wonder we are struggling and it ll continue,” said Joshua Kester.

Adetunji Adeniyi Gbenga….. “Olabode Richard Olatunde; They can’t be broke by now, they just sold one house in Abuja last week and they are planning to sell another quarry in ore by 2moro …. GBA GBE. ….

Kayode William Daodu… “Agbo/Gboye should come and borrow money from me if they could not meet up with the 11million because I heard they are broke.

“APC/ Aketi is under pressure ni o. APC is making our party Zenith Labour party more popular in Ondo state and we are resolute to take over the leadership of the state next month by God’s grace Amen… Dayo Olubo Dayo.

PRESS STATEMENT

The Office of the Ondo State Deputy Governor and candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Agboola Ajayi is again constrained to draw the attention of the general public, particularly, the good people of Ondo State, to the growing intolerance and undemocratic temperament of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu SAN towards the people’s choice – the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) as the October 10 governorship election approaches.

Let be it known that the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) applied for the usage of the M K O Abiola Democracy Park, Akure to flag off its campaign rally. After the successful completion of all due process, the agency responsible, acting on the instruction of Ondo State governor deliberately hiked the price from the original five million naira, which the venue was given out to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for its own rally on Saturday, 12th September,2020.

It is disheartening that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria can preside over a government that would deny the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) the use of any public facility especially the Democracy Park built under the visionary leadership of Dr Olusegun Mimiko, who is the national leader of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

We therefore call on the elder statesmen, religious leaders, lovers of democracy and all discerning minds to advise Mr Governor to tow the path of honour and desist from undemocratic and perfidious acts.

Ondo State belongs to all of us and nobody should use the mere privilege of leadership to ruin our prestige as the state of courageous and enlightened people.

Media Adviser to the Deputy Governor
