The early arrival of election materials in the six local government areas in Ondo north senatorial district has been commended.
SUNSHINETRUTH Correspondents who covered the poll in Akokoland and Owo axis, reports that despite the early morning rainfall, the turnout in places like Oba-Akoko, Supare, Oka, Ikare-Akoko, Arigidi-Akoko, Okeagbe Akoko to Irun/Ogbagi, even in Owo local government area.
Some of the areas visited, there was adequate security men on the road especially soldiers while at four policemen are deployed at every polling unit.
A former governorship aspirant, Dr Olusegun Abraham from Ikare Akoko and a member of the house of Reps representing Akoko northwest/Akoko northeast federal constituency, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, confirmed that INEC and Security operatives had lived up to the people’s expectations so far.
Also speaking with radio Nigeria at Irun Akoko, the Ondo state Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Fatai Adams and the Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo state Governor, Chief Segun Ajiboye, said there was no breach of peace throughout the process.
Speaking on the people’s expectations at Afin Akoko, the state Commissioner for Physical planning & Urban development, Alhaji Rasheed Badmus, called on all contestants to accept the outcome of the election in good faith.
Meanwhile, Contestants of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo state have been charged to accept the outcome of the exercise in good fate in order for the state to move forward.
This was the general opinion of some prominent Nigerians who spoke with our correspondent in Akoko and Owo/Ose areas of the state.
Two of them, a former Speaker of the state Assembly, Dr Oluwasegunota Bolarinwa and an election observer, Ambassador Isaiah Mamatun Dagali of the Centre for Strategic Conflict Management, said since the election was generally peaceful and fair, there was no need for candidates to bicker.
Ambassador Dagali said efforts of INEC and Security operatives in Ondo election were far impressive than what was obtained in Edo state.
Dr Bolarinwa, urged candidates not to waste their resources in approaching election petition tribunal.
On the scourge of vote buying, the former Speaker said such ugly act was not prominent in the Saturday’s election.
