Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has insisted that government and the people of the state will not forgive or grant amnesty to any of the hoodlums who set ablaze public and privates property amidst #Endsars protest last week.
The governor said few of the suspected arsonists had been arrested and more would be apprehended for prosecution, noting that they would pay for the destruction.
Akeredolu assured that the state government would compensate individuals whose property were destroyed by hoodlums during the #endsars protest.
Governor Akeredolu disclosed this yesterday while addressing newsmen at Government House in Akure the state capital.
Part of the facilities destroyed at Akure, Okitipupa, Ore and Ondo towns included APC and PDP secretariat, Local Government Secretariat, INEC office, Nigeria Police Divisional Office, Police Area Command, Board of Internal Revenue office, the Okitipupa Court complex, Nigeria Police Station at Ode-Aye and the residence of the former APC Governorship Aspirant, Ife Oyedele destroyed and looted as well as the Correctional Service in Okitipupa where inmates were set free by the suspected hoodlums.
Governor Akeredolu explained that a committee would be set up that would evaluate the destroyed property for adequate compensation
He implored victims of the ugly incidents to notify the state government for prompt attention.
Governor Akeredolu however explained that those arrested in connection with the alleged destruction of those property would not go unpunished
Advising every community to look after government property in its domains for the residents’ benefits, Akeredolu said effort was on to focus more on entrepreneurship and self development of the youths for human capital development
The governor however urged parents and guardians to allow their children and wards to remain at home for the time being noting that time for school resumption would be announced at the appropriate time.
