Unpaid salaries: OSOPADEC workers set for Strike

Dec 21, 2020

Following the expiration of the 3-day ultimatum issued by the Staff of OSOPADEC and the plan to thereafter embark on strike over the non-payment of their salaries and other emoluments by the Accountant General, Mr Laolu Akindolire, a meeting involving OSOPADEC Management team and state AUPCTRE with OSOPADEC branch has been held to resolve the issue.

The meeting was held today at the Commission’s head office, Oba-Ile.

The information emerged at a MEETING BETWEEN STATE EXECUTIVES OF THE AMAGAMATED UNION OF PUBLIC CORPORATIONS, CIVIL SERVICE TECHNICAL AND RECREATIONAL SERVICES EMPLOYEES (AUPCTRE) AND OSOPADEC MANAGEMENT.

The Management, during the meeting, informed the union of its efforts so far at meeting the demands of the staff and appealed that the proposed strike be shelved.

The management also requested another 48-hours to resolve the lingering crisis by meeting with the Accountant General and other appropriate offices for the release of funds towards the payment of salaries and other emoluments as approved by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

As a follow-up to this appeal, the union leadership has given the Management the 48hours as requested, but that failure to meet with the deadline, the union will have no option than to embark on indefinite strike to press home their demands.
