Precision Maiden Public Lecture: Mimiko to Speak on Nigeria’s Restructuring in Akure Tomorrow

Femi Mimiko, mni, Professor of Political Science, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State will on Sunday, December 12 deliver the first public lecture of The Precision NG online newspaper.

Mimiko, who is the 4th Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko between 2010 and 2015 and the Gbóbaníyì of Ondo Kingdom will speak on the topic, “Tottering on the brink of collapse: Is Restructuring the way out of Nigeria’s Extant Development Crises?”

A statement made available to newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State capital by the Publisher of The Precision NG, Olusegun Hakeem Adebumiti, indicated that the lecture is one of the activities put in place to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Digital newspaper.

Venue of the event is Ade-Super Hotel, Akure. Time is 2pm.

Adebumiti added that the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN will be the special guest of honour.

He said the event will be chaired by the Founder and Pro-Chancellor of Achievers University, Dr Bode Ayorinde.

According to him, the official launching of the “Friends of Precision” endowment platform will be part of the activities at the event.

“The idea is to generate a web of friends for The Precision NG who will make regular, small and determined financial contributions towards achieving independent journalism. It is not the size of individual contributions that matters here, but the number and consistency of the contributors. The goal of “Friends of Precision” is to attract millions of faithful friends who make donations of at least one thousand naira (N1000 or $2) or more in a lifetime to the purse of the media outfit,” he said.

The statement also noted that Four eminent Ondo State personalities will be conferred with the “Precision Merit Award” at the event.

The awardees are as stated below:

  1. Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the Commander, Ondo State Security Network Agency aka Amotekun Corps.
  2. Mr Babatunde Faro, ex Investment Banker and Aspirant, Akure South/North Federal Constituency Bye-election.
  3. HRM Oba David Olajide, the Ireshi of Osi.
  4. Alhaja Ceenat Anifowose, retired Principal, Akure Muslim College.

The Precision NG is Nigeria’s fastest growing online medium and was established in 2016.
