The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service ODIRS in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps, Vehicle Inspection Officers VIOs as well as other security Agencies in the state has clamped down on owners of vehicles without valid particulars.
The move was aimed at checkmating the increase of vehicles with illegal and old number plates in the state, and the need to ensure the safety and security of road users.
The enforcement exercise was done in Akure the Ondo State capital.
The team took to major roads in the metropolis stopping and checking vehicle particulars of both commercial and private vehicles.
The State Licencing officer at the Internal Revenue service Mr Samuel Olajide explained that the exercise was aimed at ensuring that only worthy vehicles ply Ondo State roads, adding that the move will help in safeguarding lives of residents of the state.
The commanding Officer Ondo state vehicle inspection office, Mr Adeniyi Adelegan while harping on the importance of collaborating with other Agencies urged motorists to acquire vehicle licences as and when due.
One of the road users, Kikelomo Arifalo commended the move of government stating that it will help in curbing unnecessary embarrassment.
With this exercise, motorists in the state are expected to update their particulars to avoid their vehicles being impounded.
