Sep 4, 2020

The National Executive member of Amalgamated Motorcycle and tricycle riders (ACOMORAN) and Convener of Ojasope Campaign organization, Comrade Shola Elekan, has enjoined all members of the association in Ondo state not to be used as an instrument of oppression or engage in thuggery that are likely to cause a breach of peace in the state before, during and after the October 10 2020 governorship election in the state.

At a meeting held yesterday with members in Akure, the state capital Elekan explained that ACOMORAN is not a political party/group with its members across the major political parties and should not engage in act capable of causing violence in the state.

According to National Executive member, “Acomoran is not a political party/group. We have member of APC of which I am , we have member of PDP, we have member of ZLP and others.”

Elekan said, “We are all brothers and I expect love to continue to reign among us. Election will come and go.

“Do not let this election divide us, members of Acomoran are free to join any political party and those of you who didn’t belong to any politcal party should ensure you go out and vote for candidate of your choice.

“The national president of the Association has pledged to sanction anyone who causes panic or causes violence in any part of the country.

“Acomoran is a peace-loving Association and members are expected to conduct themselves in a logical manner. As a member of the national executive, I am obliged to report to the disciplinary committee any of our members found in any form of violence.

“I am staunch supporter of Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu. Anyone of you who is not comfortable with his style of leadership is free to support any other candidates.

“Wherever you are, ensure no politician employs you to create violence in your unit, ward, local government, and the state in general. I’m glad to inform you that the Association has also applied to INEC to be an observer in Ondo. We will ensure our members are in all the 3000+ polling unit in Ondo state to ensure a free and fair election in the state.

“As you all go out to support candidates of your party, please maintain peace and order. Stay out of trouble so that we can see another day,” Elekan said.
