Prince Biyi Poroye, Chairman of the Emerging Political Platforms (EPP), yesterday described the ondo state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as the best among other candidates in the governorship election, hence the need for members of the platform to work tirelessly for his reelection.
Poroye stated this on Monday in Akure while addressing members of EPP who converged from all the eighteen local government areas to rally support for Akeredolu.
EPP encompasses opposition political parties in the state and had recently endorsed Akeredolu for reelection.
Addressing the members, Poroye said “In all honesty and with what we are having in Ondo state today, we have done our analysis, Akeredolu is still the best. Akeredolu does not have alternative because he does not tell lies and does not pretend.
“For our society, Politics needs people like Akeredolu, unlike past governors ,especially Dr. Mimiko, when he is killing you,he will still be saluting you. That’s what people call politics, but that’s not politics.
“I am telling you today that Akeredolu is still the best among the contestants.
“They said Akeredolu married an Ibo woman and I tell you that it is not a sin to marry an Ibo woman. I know that Jegede does not marry a Yoruba woman.
“They said Akeredolu’s wife is having influence on him. If you are a correct man, better father ,and your wife does not have a say in your home, you are a dead living man.
“If we are talking about a leader that has one wife, is it not better. The worst of all is Agboola Ajayi.
“I can tell you over seven women have children for him. So whenever a family is benefiting from Akeredolu’s government of Eyitayo’s , I can assure you ,about three families will be milking the state government. So above all, Akeredolu Is still the best.
“Akeredolu met a dead government. When former governor Mimiko took over, he met #38.b in the an account. All that Mimiko did for eight years were cosmetic projects and #38.b was wasted. But because Akeredolu was not interested in prosecuting mimiko.
“I have heard people saying Mimiko left money as much as # 20b in the purse of government. If Mimiko had as much as that, would it be owing workers salaries ? That’s what they called politics and Akeredolu does not pay politics with people’s lives.
“If not for Akeredolu’s genuineness ,Ondo state would have been closed down as a government today.
“Within the last three years , Akeredolu has come up ,generated internal fund ,brought in a lot of investors and you can see that even where there is no allocation, he can still patch up somewhere.
“If Jegede had not been part of the Mimiko’s government, i would tell you to support him. If Agboola Ajayi was not a PDP person and later became an APC person who worked with Akeredolu for three years and he did not see anything bad within the period, I would have told you to support him,” Poroye said.
In an interview, the EPP Publicity Secretary, Hon Oladeji Ebisemiju, said, “As you are aware, we are in the final week (which I call the last lap) of election and there is need for us to further sensitize our members across the 203 wards on the need to return to their various units and complete the final cultivation for election success for Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa come 10th October, 2020.
“I also want to appeal to all members of Emerging Political Platform EPP to eschew political violence. The governor has said that he will not support any one found to have committed electoral fraud and political thuggery and that is where we also stand as a platform. If you are caught you will go to jail. I’m assured that by 11/10/2020 we will gather again to celebrate,” Ebisemiju said.
