FUTA Students Bag Cash Award from Fertilizer Company

Three of the best students of the School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology, Miss Agboola Dolapo Oyindamola, Miss Akande Deborah Olajumoke and Miss Oluwadare Lolade Victoria bagged monetary awards of one hundred and fifty thousand naira each from a renowned fertilizer company, Indorama Fertilizer as a means of assistance and a source of reward to encourage academic excellence.

Speaking at the award ceremony, the Dean of the School, Professor Oluwatooyin Osundahunsi expressed gratitude to the Company, stating that the University system cannot be run by the Federal Government alone, therefore more Organizations like Indorama Fertilizer should do more to support the Institution.

She also urged students present to put in more effort in attaining better grades to enable them qualify for further awards and scholarships which will not only benefit them financially, but put their names on the sand of time.

She urged the awarding Company to throw its doors open to staff and students of the University who may need placement for Sabbatical and Industrial Attachment, assuring that FUTA products would contribute in no small measure to the uplifting of the Company.

Explaining the position of the Company on the cash awards, the Marketing Manager, Mr. Tunji Ajiboye stated that the Company’s aim is to stimulate the passion for Agriculture in students. He noted that Agriculture being the fulcrum of food security had to be treated with more commitment than it currently is to fast track better living.

He noted that the award given to the students was the beginning of stronger partnership and an open door to accommodate more awardees.

Mr. Osas Aikhomu who is an Agronomist with the Company told the students to look beyond their current course of study to their relevance as Agriculturists in the future and further advised them to invest time and passion to make wider impact.
